Flowers are of course the all-important touch that bring a wedding to life. We catch up with our favourite florist extraordinaire, Rachael Barker who took the bold move from Fashion to Floristry, to discuss what goes into creating the perfect wedding bouquet.
Where to look for inspiration?
I draw inspiration from many many places. I always begin with a palette; and the connotations that I associate with it. I love to study colour & how colour works with texture. Scale always interests me; I love to imagine flowers in different situations - aiming to make a positive & beautiful impact on a space. Most of my inspiration derives from art, architecture & emotion.
What to look for when choosing a wedding bouquet?
When choosing a Bridal Bouquet, I will always discuss seasonality with my Bride. Which flowers are the most beautiful, strong & sensually impactful? I always take into account the scent of flowers - scent is so so important; it’s one of our most emotive senses.
Dream wedding song?
More Than This - Roxy Music (it has always been my number one. I love Bryan Ferry) I also love ‘I Want you’ by Marvin Gaye & ‘In my Life’ by The Beatles.
Go-to shoes for a wedding?
I love the feathered Agnes sandal in blue satin!
